Background:

����������� Youko Kurama was a much feared demon of the Makai [Demon World]. He was cold, merciless and cruel. His ability was to use his youki [psychic energy possessed by demons] to influence any kind plants. He had few friends, but his closest was Kuronue, who was killed during a raiding of the Reikai treasure room.

��������� ���������� However, Kurama was ambushed while in the Ningenkai [Human World]. by some very powerful Reikai lackeys. To save his life, Kurama had to flee in spirit form, abandoning his body to search for a host.

���������� He found one, in the form of an unborn child in the body of a ningen [Human] named Shiori Minamino. He inhabited the body for years, learning much about human emotion.

���������� The year before Yusuke 'died', Kurama met Hiei, who was searching for his sister Yukina. Together they fought the demon 'Eight Hands', who had taken Kurama's childhood friend, Maya, and whom Hiei suspected of also capturing Yukina.

���������� A year later, Shiori developed an severe illness, and in order to save her life, he teamed up with Gouki and Hiei to steal the three artifacts of Reikai- the Mirror of Utter Darkness, the Sword of Demon Slaying, and the Sphere of Hunger. He used the Mirror of Utter Darkness to bargain for his mother's life, his own in exchange for hers. He told Yusuke that he would return it to the Reikai after completing this task. As the mirror was about to accomplish this, however, Yusuke interfered and asked it to take half of their two lives instead of Kurama's entirely. The mirror spared them both.

����������To repay for his crimes, Kurama assisted Yusuke in his job as Reikai Tentai. During the 'Dark Tournament' held in the Makai [Demon World] he fought with Shigure. In his fight he was having a hard time fighting with Shigure in his form, then he began transforming to his 'Youko' form and it was Shigure's turn to have a hard time. But Kurama decided it was time for him to forget his past as a demon and start a new life as a human. Reverting back to his human form, he fought Shigure and won. He was then qualified for the finals but declined.

���������� Today, Kurama lives with his mother, and his a stepfather, Hatanaka Kazuya. And a younger stepbrother, Hatanaka Shuichi. ��

Kurama..... our favorite redhead bishonen!!! He's one of my favorite character in the series, mainly because: He's cute, always remains calm in any situation, He's the smartest person in the anime, and when really pissed of, he can kick @$$.
